Invest in the Future of a More United America
The American Exchange Project (AEP) is on a mission to transform the way young people experience this country. Imagine a world where every high school senior, from every corner of the country, has the opportunity to travel to a hometown completely different from their own—meeting new people, experiencing different ways of life, and forging connections that bridge divides. This is the vision of AEP: to make the free domestic senior exchange a civic rite of passage for future generations, uniting America one exchange at a time.
Why does this matter? Because our nation’s vastness and diversity are its greatest strengths. When young people learn to appreciate the unique stories, traditions, and challenges of communities different from their own, they don’t just grow as individuals—they become the empathetic, understanding leaders our future needs. AEP students leave their exchanges with broadened horizons, lifelong friendships, and a deeper commitment to building a more connected and resilient America.
Your support makes this vision possible. Together, we can create life-changing experiences for students, foster unity in an increasingly divided world, and pave the way for a stronger, more empathetic future. Donate today and be part of a movement that inspires hope, bridges connections, and transforms lives.
With Gratitude,
The American Exchange Project Team

AEP team, I am so inspired by this project and I feel some optimism bubbling up again. I am an immigrant who has been in the US for over 20 years. Back in the day before the current/obvious polarized moment, I felt that there was something brewing underneath us. I could not pin down what it was but I knew that there seemed to be a growing chasm and maybe if we could experience life from "the other side", we might "be better to one another and do better by one another". As a result, I considered what I thought could help us experience lives from different perspectives. I dreamed of starting a US version of the international focused organization, Women for Women International to do something similar to what you are doing. Life happened and cynicism pushed the ideas to the background. Fast forward years later and I do truly see the value in what you are doing. My field of work has also helped emphasize the benefits of this approach no matter how inconsequential it might seem. I am proud of you all for taking this leap and I am so proud of the teens who are taking the leap. Maybe there is hope after all. I am not sure as I still battle cynicism and a feeling of abject hopelessness, but I will keep my fingers crossed. I wish you all the best! Adaora (Springfield VA)
