Help The Amazing Violet!
Handi-Capable Violet Needs Your Help!
Little Violet was in the Baldwin Park/Los Angeles county animal shelter unable to walk. Her skin was so calloused from dragging herself around, her condition made us cry.
Camp Cocker Rescue saved her and immediately took her to a neurologist for an MRI.
Much to our disappointment, the MRI revealed there was spinal cord damage that was so old that no surgical options would help Violet.
Violet had been up for adoption for six months and no adopters could be found. So we made Violet a part of our Forever Foster home program (where we sponsor her expenses for life). We got really lucky to find Violet a forever foster home with Nami, who can keep up with the 24/7 nursing care.
Violet needs her bladder manually expressed every few hours and she needs her poopies manually pulled out twice a day. Her chronic bladder infections were another concern. It took nearly two years of frequent urine cultures and stronger and stronger anti-biotics before her bladder got healthy. The bacteria was like a super bug, it was resisting all of the normal drugs and we had to special order rare anti-biotics for her to receive in daily injections.
Violet continues to work hard at daily physical therapy and gets acupuncture to keep her leg muscles strong. She has a custom wheel cart for long walks or hikes or adventures chasing bunnies. π°π°π°
She has a special custom home prepared food that a veterinarian nutritionist designed for Violetβs bladder support. She gets lots of supplements as well, for her bladder, her joints and her neurological support. Oh and she has custom made diapers as well!
Violet is now living her best life thanks to her forever foster Mom, Nami who is doing the hard work of the nursing care - and thanks to so many of you that donate monthly to our Forever Foster home program!
Would you like to become a monthly sponsor for Violet? This helps with her ongoing physical therapy and supplies. Imagine what $5 a month can do for this sweet girl!
