Goal
Fundraising Mission: To raise $10,000 in donations to Alternatives to Violence and ensure that multiple families can transition out of the Emergency Residential Shelter and into a furnished apartment.
Why it matters more than ever: Due to federal budget cuts, Alternatives to Violence has lost 40% of its funding, which equates to about $500,000. They have not cut services yet, thanks to reserves and proper planning, but additional funding will be needed to close the gap in 2027.
About ATV (from their website): Alternatives to Violence provides shelter, advocacy, education and resources for people impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking. Since 1983, Alternatives to Violence has offered victims the opportunity to heal both emotionally and physically in a supportive environment. Each year, we provide emergency shelter, safety planning, advocacy, information and referrals to local resources, crisis intervention, and in some cases longer-term housing to over 1,600 people.
Additional Information: Last day to donate will be May 11th (the day following Mother's Day). In addition to raising money and awareness, I will be participating in the Salt Lake City Marathon on behalf of ATV.
