Alex Engels | Journey to UTMB

Alex Engels is chasing one of the biggest goals in trail running: qualifying for UTMB Mont-Blanc. Along the way, he is raising money so communities in eastern Uganda can have reliable clean water.

His 2027 season starts with the Rothrock 50K in Pennsylvania on May 15. Alex already knows how to grind through a long day. At MissionCleanWater’s 2026 Westfield Ultra, he covered 50.4 miles in 12 hours.

Every dollar raised through Alex’s campaign supports MissionCleanWater’s work in the Soroti and Kalaki Districts of Uganda, where we rehabilitate hand pumps, build solar-powered water systems, and train local technicians. Communities own their water systems, and our team provides monthly inspections and ongoing support so the water keeps flowing for years, not months.

$5 provides clean water for one person.

Thank you for supporting Alex and for helping bring lasting clean water to families in Uganda.
