Alex Rodman's Fundraising Page!

Hi! My name is Alex Rodman and I am so excited to be running the 2024 TCS NYC Marathon for The Friends of Governors Island. As a lifelong runner, a NYC resident, an avid environmentalist, and a Columbia University Track and Field alumna (Go Lions!), this opportunity presents a culmination of great passions in my life. 

The Friends of Gov­er­nors Island is an inde­pen­dent non­prof­it that works to ensure the Island’s con­tin­ued growth and acces­si­bil­i­ty as a vibrant pub­lic resource. The Friends stew­ards the Island’s green spaces, enhances the vis­i­tor expe­ri­ence and builds a com­mu­ni­ty ded­i­cat­ed to the Island’s future. Their core activ­i­ties include run­ning Gov­er­nors Island’s vis­i­tor ser­vices and vol­un­teer pro­grams; rais­ing funds to care for the park’s land­scapes, expand pub­lic access, and cre­ate more free pro­gram­ming; and advo­cat­ing to ensure Gov­er­nors Island remains a shared space for all. 

This will be my first time running the NYC Marathon! By participating this year, I not only embark on a personal challenge to traverse 26.2 miles through the five boroughs, but also become a part of a movement that supports the very parks and greenspaces that I cherish!
