I discovered this particular Dojo by kismet. I am active with Tennis and Pure Barre and I work out wth weights at home . I hike and I do other sports as well. I still needed a sport that was on a different plane. I asked for guidance and I was led to audio book called 'Mastery' by George Leonard. The audio book piqued my curiosity for this art called Aikldo. He tells the origin story of O sensai. I loved the sweetness of it. Plus there was a lot of rolling around the planes of movement I craved, beautiful centered, mind body connection. It's the opposite of violence or vanquish. It's about Hara or Qi it's about being one with God. All things we all need, especially me. To find a dojo was the quest. I went with my gut and found Lia Suzuki Sensai in Korea Town. She is still, smart, and deeply dedicated. for more information go to; www. Aki-usa.org. For me exactly the teacher I was looking for. Our Dojo is humble but spacious and we care for it with love. She welcomed me with an open heart. I am a wee bit old to be starting this. She never made me feel unwelcome and she is tough. .We train with children and adults and we fly. The mat is playful, joyous, chaotic ORDER. Finally It is my BIRTHDAY month all of February so if inclined to gift me something? Donate to my Dojo! Come and visit us and see for yourself.
