Goal

Los Angeles has been going through multiple crises:rising unaffordability of housing, food, bills. While BVCLT works to keep rent and housing as low as possible, with the recent disasters in LA, many of our tenants are still struggling to pay for their basic necessities. Residents have been affected by the loss of their jobs in burned down neighborhoods, supporting families and friends in the fire, and dealing with more instability in the fragile LA job market.

BVCLT is creating a Tenant Crisis Fund to support our tenants with funds when they are going through hardship. All funds donated to this campaign will continue to be used solely for BVCLT tenants that are behind on their bills, including rent, utilities, medical emergencies, family loss and other debt. We are asking for donations to the Tenant Crisis Fund so that we are able to support our community in a holistic , quicker way.

While we continue to look for resources and grants for our tenants through the city, county and other funders, they are often over subscribed or on a timeline that doesn't allow us to offer support quickly. The funds raised so far gave us the flexibility to immediately respond to city-wide crises. When multiple fires were burning neighborhoods around Los Angeles and the air quality was toxic, we were able to use the funds to buy every BVCLT tenant air purifiers and high quality masks immediately after the fires started.
