Improv for Change: Adventures in Improv
Adventures in Improv is one of our most transformative programs we offer. Brought directly into Airway Heights Corrections Center, this program uses the tools of improv to help justice-involved individuals rebuild confidence, strengthen communication skills, and rediscover their ability to imagine a different future.
In a safe, supportive, and creative environment, participants learn how to:
Practice trust and collaboration
Communicate clearly and listen deeply
Manage fear and uncertainty
Express themselves with confidence and authenticity
Build connection and community with others
Be creative, funny, and silly without fear
For many participants, this is the first time they have been encouraged to take creative risks, to be heard, or to experience joy that isn’t overshadowed by trauma. Improv becomes a bridge on journey to heal, to grow, and to practice the skills needed to re-enter their communities with resilience and hope.
Why Your Support Matters
Our instructors spend significant time and expertise to make this program possible, but the need continues to grow. Funding from donors ensures we can:
Provide more sessions
Pay professional teaching artists
Develop expanded curriculum focused on communication, emotional regulation, and confidence-building
Sustain and strengthen a program that participants describe as life-changing
What Our Students Are Saying
It gave me hope for acceptance beyond incarceration
The instructors were awesome. They made me feel like I was not in prison. They made us feel like normal people.
It's a total escape from prison and it offered an opportunity for non-likeminded individuals to bond and transform prison relations
The freedom to be creative and spontaneous
Freedom to be silly and let my guard down
Help Us Keep the Door Open, Even Behind Walls

You give second chances.
