I've had the privilege of being part of the Azusa community my whole life, first as a student in Azusa schools, and now as the father of a 2nd grader. I’VE COMMITTED MY ENTIRE ADULT LIFE TO THE CAUSE OF AZUSA'S YOUTH, having gained professional experience as an AUSD classified employee, Program Leader through Think Together, Teen Program Director at Neighborhood Homework House, and Experiential Learning Educator through Pathways In Education, as well as serving on the MAYOR’S YOUTH COUNCIL and PAC+.
Five years ago I became the Founder and Executive Director of MYTHIRDPLACE, a nonprofit youth organization primarily serving middle and high school students in Azusa. In addition to this, I currently serve on the Lee Elementary PTA and SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL, CITIZEN’S OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE, AZUSA LEADERS FOR LEARNING FOUNDATION, THE AUSD SUPERINTENDENT'S ROUND TABLE, and Advisory Committee to Urban Youth Workers Institute, Board Director at Just Us 4 Youth, and am an Associate Pastor at Foothill Community Church.
If elected to School Board, I will continue to advocate for Azusa youth by:
- IDENTIFYING AND ADDRESSING THE ROOT CAUSES OF DECLINING STUDENT AND TEACHER RETENTION
- I will ask the hard questions and seek the difficult truth about why our schools are losing such an abundance of students and teachers so we can begin to solve the problem.
- REBUILDING TRUST AND DEVELOPING RELATIONSHIPS WITH COMMUNITY STAKEHOLDERS
- I will be a bridge-builder to rebuild trust and develop relationships among leaders in our schools, businesses, law enforcement, local government, neighborhoods, homes, and more.
- ENSURING FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY AND TRANSPARENCY THROUGH COMMUNITY COLLABORATION
- I will work with teachers, parents, and other community members to make sure our budget directs funds responsibly and is created with transparency and collaboration to reflect the wishes of our community.
