In support of Project Adelina

Adelina Beatrice Ilie's life was tragically cut short on 9th December 2023 due to a devastating car accident. Along with her in the car were three schoolmates who, fortunately, survived with minor injuries. Despite the valiant efforts of paramedics, who tirelessly attempted resuscitation for over 45 minutes and administered multiple adrenaline injections, Adelina could not be revived and was declared deceased at the accident site.

Adelina was the beloved daughter of Felicia, a dedicated nurse who had spent her career caring for the elderly and sick, providing comfort in their final moments. Having faced the loss of her own parents and sister, Felicia is now confronted with the unimaginable grief of losing her daughter. Known for her daily calls to share the events of her day, Adelina's absence has left a void in the lives of her mother and three siblings, a void they are struggling to comprehend.

In the face of this tragedy, Adelina's family, anchored by their strong Christian faith, has chosen to turn their sorrow into a beacon of hope. They draw comfort from biblical promises, particularly Jesus' assurance in John 11:23 and the hope offered in 1 Thessalonians 4:14, believing in a joyful reunion with Adelina in the hereafter. Adelina, a devout believer, was known for her kindness, her participation in church choirs, and her zeal for standing up for the oppressed.

To honour Adelina's memory and her spirit of compassion, her family is in the process of establishing a foundation aimed at supporting others facing similar losses. Recognising the profound impact of grief, the initiative seeks to offer solace and prevent the despair that can lead to severe depression or worse. The family has also been sharing their message of hope and resilience through various platforms, including schools, churches, podcasts, and television, encouraging individuals of all ages, including younger people, to live meaningful lives and to cherish every moment.

To further immortalise Adelina's legacy, the family has already written and published a book that shares her life story and their journey through grief—interwoven with a powerful message of hope. The book has been translated into Romanian and is now being translated into more languages, starting with Spanish. This ongoing project, though still in need of funding, stands as a testament to the family's unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of others and reminding the world that life is both precious and unpredictable.

To continue their mission, the family appeals for support. Their message is clear: Adelina's passing should not be in vain. It serves as a powerful reminder that life is fleeting, urging everyone, especially the youth, to live fully, love deeply, and always remember that "tomorrow is not promised." Through their efforts, Adelina's family hopes to awaken a sense of urgency and reflection on the value of life and the importance of faith.
