Goal

Come help us make a difference in the lives of a community in Western Uganda. Energy and food insecurity are fundamental human needs. We are connecting renewable energy with high-impact community empowerment. Throughout Kyenjojo District agriculture is the staple of sustenance, economics, and livelihood. And yet, half of all food grown goes to waste, by and large due to a lack of electricity and access to post-harvest processing. Meanwhile, 80% of Ugandans are not connected to the national grid.

The annual income for rural Ugandan farmers could double with the Abundance Initiative: a utility-scale solar field paired with an onsite, community-based agro-processing facility This is what the Abundance Program is bringing: sustainable agriculture and post-harvest preservation & value-addition powered by solar energy.

Our roots in Kyenjojo are with the nonprofit orphanage, school, and community center Bringing Hope to the Family (BHTF). On one hand, our goal is to uplift our friends and partners at BHTF by implementing a state of the art solar field to upgrade their regional grid and electrify their community. We believe solar energy can be a catalyst for community-based economic empowerment. On the other hand, we are bringing something else that is not electricity; something more connected to the needs of the community and the livelihood of the people… with the resources and vision of international developers and investments. We will be working Gigawatt Global a multinational renewable energy company that built the first utility-scale solar fields in East Africa and Israel.

Many investors go for the big international aid project without listening to the community. The Abundance Initiative will be envisioned and implemented hand-in-hand with the leaders of the community and civil society of Western Uganda and the Kyenjojo District. A sustainable vision for the great climate transition that is upon us, must be built in lockstep with the community it will be serving. Join us, to build a model that can change the world!

Ray and Ethan, This experience in Western Uganda will enrich and impact your lives forever. My hope is that you will submerge into that beautiful culture and allow yourselves to learn from them. Their perseverance in challenging times, and solidarity and care for one another will amaze you. As you walk with them and ask questions to support the Abundance Initiative strategies, I know that your care and vision comes with an enormous responsibility to create a pathway to bring more justice transformation in the world. I am honored to be part of that with both of you.

Honored to be your first donation. This project is so important to not only the lives of those in Uganda but all lives across the world! Africa is one of the fastest growing populations in the world and the demand for clean sustainable energy is massive. In order to mitigate the use of fossil fuels as the population continues to increase a viable alternative will need to be put in place as soon as possible. This will empower the local community and provide a tangible asset. The time is now, the situation is dire and there’s no time to wait.
