Goal
Support Our Scholarship
Abstractions brought together the best minds in the software field to Pittsburgh in August 2016. Over 1,500 software professionals -- developers, designers, sysadmins, managers, and community leaders – gathered for three days of presentations, demos, and social events. The sold-out event was a great success, but we need your help with a critical component.
From the beginning, we organizers of Abstractions set forth our scholarship program with a solid, altruistic premise: no one should miss out on Abstractions because they cannot afford it. The program was one of the most rewarding - and logistically difficult - tasks of organizing Abstractions. It ultimately enabled 75 people from all over the world to attend, who would have otherwise not been able to participate. The notes, kind words and thank yous we've received from them have meant a lot.
The fact is our scholarship program is still underfunded by $17,000, even with solid community support on our online donation campaign. Enter the challenge:
If we reach the $25,000 mark this month, a Donor has pledged to give an additional $5k, which altogether will completely absolve the deficit.
If you learned something valuable, gained new business, got hired at Abstractions or simply want to contribute to underfunded and underrepresented groups in software, consider helping us meet this challenge.
If every attendee donated just $8, we would reach our goal.
Even if only one in four attendees donate $32, we can still reach our goal.
Special thanks to the donor who ignited this challenge with their generous offer. Support us now so we can be generous next time!
Excessive Funding Plan
If we are successful enough to collect more money that we use directly to support Abstractions attendees, we will keep the money in holding at Code & Supply and use it to fund future conference scholarships, free educational events held in Pittsburgh, or to send members of our local community that are in need of financial assistance to conferences in other cities.
