Support the Voices of Disability Culture!
At Ability Maine (https://www.abilitymaine.org/), we believe in the power of disabled voices to shape culture, create community, and spark change. For over two decades, we have offered a platform for disability rights, information, and creative expression in "Maine" (which is unceded Wabanaki territory) and beyond. Our intent is to provide a place for people to find resources that will help them create better lives for themselves and others.
At the heart of our work is Breath and Shadow (https://www.abilitymaine.org/breath), one of the only literary journals in the world exclusively featuring writers with disabilities. Every poem, story, essay, and review we publish is a testament to the talent, insight, and resilience of our community. But we can't do it without you.
Your donation helps us:
Keep our resource index up to date
Pay contributors for their creative work, $25 per poem and $40 for prose
Amplify underrepresented voices and keep Breath and Shadow free and accessible to readers around the globe
If Breath and Shadow has ever moved you, challenged you, or inspired you - or if you believe in a world where disabled voices are not just heard but celebrated - we ask you to support us today. Donate now to fuel the next issue!
Every dollar helps keep the breath in our voices, and the shadow of erasure at bay.
With gratitude and solidarity,
