Goal

A Latvian Serviceman and mountaineer is traveling to the South Pole, raising funds in support of Ukraine via UNITED24.

Juris Ulmanis is an officer in the volunteer Latvian National Guard, mountaineer, university professor and entrepreneur. He will ski to the geographical South Pole in Antarctica to remind the world of the brutal war in Ukraine, and to encourage donations towards Medical Aid via the UNITED24 platform.

"Latvians understand Ukraine’s fight — our shared history with Russian oppression compels us to act. It is my responsibility to do everything that I can to stop this “evil empire” from expanding and to assist and bring hope to those on the frontlines," commented Juris Ulmanis.

The expedition will start on December 28, 2024, and Juris will be on the ice by January 3. The journey will take about 16 days, during which time Juris will ski from latitude 89 to the South Pole, where he'll plant the Ukrainian flag.

Donations will go toward medical aid to bring hope in these dire times. Contributions of $24 or more will enter donors into a raffle for exclusive items, including signed copies of Ulmanis’ memoir, expedition gear and stamped postcards from the South Pole.

Join Juris Ulmanis and UNITED24 to support Ukraine’s fight for freedom. Together we can save lives.
