Goal

I turn 39 Nov. 29.

To celebrate, I'm doing something that feels aligned with who I am and the communities that raised me: I’m asking my friends, family, and loved ones to help me raise $3,900 for ARC-Southeast.

I’ve lived this side of the Mason Dixon Line for the last five years. And this year in particular I am building a stronger bridge between my home in the South and the people and places I love elsewhere. This fundraiser is one way to practice that. Every dollar is an act of solidarity with Southerners who are fighting repression while also world building community-led care that can benefit us all.

Why $3,900?
I want my birthday to mean something concrete this year. I want to keep living out values of mutual aid and resistance. Supporting ARC-Southeast embodies that for me. For a decade, ARC-Southeast has been showing up for people across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Tennessee to redistribute $10 million in support to over 40,000 people.

So join me in supporting Southern resistance:

-$50 can help cover travel for someone forced to cross state lines.

-$100 strengthens the mutual aid fund for callers who miss work or lose wages.

-$250 covers an ultrasound or follow-up appointment.

-$1,000 supports an entire care journey—transportation, lodging, childcare, food, and more.

As Grace Lee Boggs wrote "movements are born of critical connections rather than critical mass." I am so grateful to be connected with each and every one of you. I have faith that our connections will see us through.
