Goal
Found on a visit to a remote shelter this senior boy had been left in the back room at a shelter, unavailable for rescues or the public for more than 2 months for no reason. When finally placed in adoptions he was kenneled with 4 other large breed dogs. Covered with multiple bite wounds it was obvious he was being attacked by kennel mates. When he would walk near the food dish the other dogs would growl and snap at him, scaring him away. This was heartbreaking to witness and is a sad state of the conditions in many shelters today. That was all we needed to see; we knew he needed our help.
After spending almost 3 months in a shelter he was filthy, has multiple bite wounds and is very sick with kennel cough. His illness is so bad we are now worried the kennel cough will advance to pneumonia, threatening his life.
We have named him Benson and our vets estimate he is about 8 years of age. Benson is as sweet as can be. He loves to play ball and will carry his ball in his mouth when you visit him. With his current condition it is obvious his first owners did/could not provide appropriate care for him. We will make sure that Benson’s new family will see how precious he is and give him the love and care he needs.
Benson will need veterinary care for his current infections, and before he can be neutered we will need to get him health- this is going to take multiple blood tests and lots of medicine. Senior dogs left behind are those that deeply touch our hearts. We need your help to provide Benson the care he needs to save his life. Benson’s care is currently estimated at $2350.
