Scott lived life full out with a “family first” attitude. He was handsome, popular and the life of the party. He was a giver and a doer and helped everyone who crossed his path, always seeking to make life better for others. He was straightforward, honest, and his twin sister’s biggest fan and protector.
And yet, he struggled with addiction. For years. Until an accidental Fentanyl poisoning of what he thought was OxyContin in the parking lot of a Starbucks ended his fight. Well aware that life is fragile and that you “could lose everything at the flip of a coin,” Scott told his family that they should not be afraid to tell people about his addiction struggles in the hope and belief that others might benefit from his downfall. And that is exactly what they are doing through the work of 2 End the Stigma.
