Saving #53Pigs
After many months we are delighted to say we have now secured the safety of the Pembrokeshire #53Pigs and are looking forward to their arrival at Beneath The Wood Sanctuary. We now need to raise as much money as possible to help us get set up for such a large number of pigs. We need money to cover the costs of fencing, pig arks, water troughs etc
The Pembrokeshire #53Pigs were facing a death sentence when a destruction order was placed on them after being seized from Bramble Hall Farm, Pembrokeshire, Wales.
The pigs were among more than 200 animals rescued from Bramble Hall Farm during a late January two day operation, involving multiple agencies including police, Pembrokeshire County Council and animal welfare groups.
They were facing destruction due to the risk of transmittable conditions, such as TSE (Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathy), a disease similar to the that prevalent in the 80s and 90s in cows (BSE), entering the food supply chain if they are allowed to live. The fears of TSE follow the harrowing conditions in which the pigs were found in.
In late March we were invited by the group Vegan Actions Wales to attend a meeting with Pembrokeshire County Council to discuss the destruction order. We sought the help of Advocates For Animals Solicitors to work on our behalf to find a legal route to overturn the destruction order and allow the pigs to be rehomed to a sanctuary.
They deserve to live and enjoy the rest of their lives with the freedom to roam outside in a huge field, to freely be able play and splash in the stream.
All donations are welcome and directly help the #53Pigs, thank you, for your support.
