A YEAR IN REVIEW AND A NEW ONE TO COME

Dear Friend,

2024 was another fruitful year for The Willits Community Theatre and Performing Arts Center, as we were able to achieve some big milestones, see a dramatic increase in attendance, and we have been blessed with some inspiring and very helpful grants and donations from the community.

We started out this incredible year with a bang!  Were you one of the hundreds who got to see Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show?  Bhavvy Ducharme, directing with Abigail Strock as musical director brought, fun, quality and a new perspective to a cult classic.  We could not have done this without your support.

Audiences were amazed at the simple beauty and flawless acting in The Glass Menagerie directed by Michael Ducharme with Kate Magruder as Amanda.

Bill Barksdale directed an all star cast in Mothers and Sons.  Kathy Vellis and Christopher Martineau were astounding together supported by Greg Martin and Finn Shipp

We are only halfway through the memories as we get to Sam Shepard's rock and roll tragedy Tooth of Crime, directed by Mike A'Dair, that shocked and delighted audiences with a live rock band on stage led by Tyler Balthrop.

Every year our Gateway To The Stage youth program puts on a summer play for 30 kids and this summer I hope you were able to see the amazing Addams Family The Musical directed by Billy Hetherington and performed  at the Willits Charter School Performing Arts Center.  This program achieved amazing new attendance records for the WCT and we thank the Community Foundation of Mendocino County for a generous grant which helped make this show possible.

Kelly Kesey and Lisa Wilcox directed a dynamite cast of women in an beautiful and moving performance of Steel Magnolias with Cindi Mohr's perfect comedic timing knocking out audiences as Ouiser.

Jeff Shipp and Mathew Caine directed a cast of mostly teenagers in the locally written horror play The Whisperer which was not for the faint of heart.  Zoe Robertson in the lead took audiences on a wild and terrifying ride.

We finish out this year with another Gateway To The Stage youth production for the holidays called Believe! directed by Robert Ford

If all those amazing plays were not enough we also hosted so many magical performances including

Black Suzie and Sovelman

Blueluke

Bug Guts

Pearl Marill's High Fashion Show

Robert Goreman's Magic and Mentalism

&

A Screening of Sally! a documentary about local hero Sally Gearhart

Next year is going to be even more wonderful and we hope you will join us as we highlight our year with 5 fantastic plays, more performances from local youth, music, magic, fun and most importantly community time together supporting the arts.

We hope that you will join us as a collaborator in this historic year by making a gift before the end of the year. The community theatre does not exist without its community.  We need you and look forward to hearing from you.
