24,000 Friends of Ukraine Initiative

On August 24, 2022, Ukrainian Independence Day, UNITED24 ambassadors Andriy Shevchenko and Liev Schreiber, together with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, launched the 24,000 Friends of Ukraine initiative. The idea was both symbolic and powerful: to find 24,000 people worldwide willing to commit to a monthly $24 donation, supporting Ukrainian medical workers. A global circle of friends, united by one purpose—to help save lives.

Since then, thousands have joined. One of them is the legendary Barbra Streisand. Her lucky number is 24, and she made it count—donating $24,000 upfront. Barbra became not just a supporter, but a voice for the campaign, encouraging others to stand with Ukraine’s medics.

Every monthly contribution through this initiative goes directly towards Medical Aid via UNITED24, supporting the doctors, nurses, and paramedics who risk everything under russia’s continued attacks. They work under fire, saving lives in operating rooms, ambulances, and field hospitals, often while missiles are still in the sky.
