Goal

When I moved to Arizona, I discovered SOLR - Southwest Oasis Lab Rescue  - and decided to volunteer to help rescue Labs in the name of the six amazing Labs I rescued and who fast became my forever companions.  I similarly volunteered for 13 years with the Chicagoland Lab Rescue.  I love all dogs - but lost my heart to Labs.

Since joining SOLR in 2022, I have completed countless home visits to assess, approve and counsel prospective families who wish to adopt a new pet into their home.  I also stepped up to co-chair our 2025 annual fund-raiser and have stepped up again to do so for our 2026 event.

I'm excited to share that SOLR is hosting our third annual Walk event which will take place on January 31, 2026 at Kiwanis Lake in Kiwanis Park, Tempe, AZ.

The objective of our event is to raise the needed funds so that SOLR can continue to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome abandoned dogs who, with some tender loving care and a few dollars, become valued pets and family members.

SOLR is a not-for-profit 501(c) (3) foster-based, all-volunteer organization that has grown with the support of volunteers and some generous donations.  These donations along with adoption fees subsidize various areas of our rescue and help keep our rescue open.  Since 2019, when SOLR was founded, we have rescued 1500 Labradors and placed them into safe, happy homes.  Yes, 1500 dogs SAVED!!!

I have decided to walk with Brûlée (in spirit).  Many of  you will remember Brûlée, my first Labrador whom I rescued at the age of 13 months in 1998.  He was a kind, loving dog who walked at my side for 11 years, and whose spirit will now walk with me to help rescue and rehome other special Labs.

And now my ask of you:

Would you consider joining Brûlée

and me as a "virtual" walker?  For just $30 you can walk with us (virutally) and help us save more dogs in need.   $30 goes a long way in a dog rescue organization and, for example, helps us cover needed medications that most rescued dogs require.

Thank you for your consideration and for joining in my efforts to save more helpless, abandoned dogs.

Every dollar we raise helps save precious lives!
