2026 Chicago Marathon

In May 2025, I started running to get a little faster for CrossFit. Next thing I knew, I was running my first half marathon – something I never imagined I would ever do. Now I’m signed up for several races in 2026, but the one I am most excited for is the 2026 Chicago Marathon. I never imagined myself running 13.1 miles, let alone 26.2, but running has reminded me that my body can carry me through hard things.  

Not only do I get to run the Chicago Marathon, but I get to fundraise for and run it with the Live Like Roo Foundation. The Live Like Roo Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support and financial assistance to families whose pets are facing a cancer diagnosis. They work tirelessly to ensure that no family has to choose between giving their pet the care they need and their financial stability. Every dollar you contribute will go directly to helping families navigate these challenging times, ensuring that their fur babies receive the treatment and support necessary.

For those who may not know, animals have always been a significant part of my life. They aren’t just pets; they are family. Throughout the years, I’ve experienced the unwavering love and friendship pets provide, and I believe every animal deserves the best life possible. 

When our beloved dog, Lady, was diagnosed with cancer, it shattered our world. We were fortunate enough to have her undergo surgery, and she became our brave “tripod dog.” That extra time we gained with her meant everything to us. We cherished every moment, every wag of her tail, and every snuggle. Sadly, the cancer returned, and we found ourselves facing an outcome we had hoped to avoid. Ultimately, Lady's spirit, love, and the joy she brought us were irreplaceable, and knowing we did everything possible for her comforts us.

My participation in the Chicago Marathon is more than just a race; it’s a chance to honor Lady and support all families and their fur babies facing similar battles.
