In the summer of 2022, I experienced the loss of my first pregnancy. As newlyweds who were over-the-moon for our little surprise, my husband and I were devastated. Moreso, we were left incredibly disappointed by the lack of support available to us outside of our friends and family.

We overcame - leaning on love and comforted by stories of solidarity from those close to us who experienced similar loss grief.

A year later, I encountered Bernice in a professional capacity while she was in the process of founding Chasing the Rainbows. By then I had a successful pregnancy and was on maternity leave with my first child.

Still fresh off the loss of my first pregnancy and the joy of giving birth to a healthy baby, I was instantly drawn to the organization. Bernice’s story was so different from mine, but I discovered we were neighbors, had similar career paths, and knew so many of the same people. It was kismet. I absolutely fell in love with the mission of Chasing the Rainbows, which is:

“To support those daily that have experienced infertility, pregnancy, and infant loss by providing trauma informed care and resources in a safe environment.”

Through my own experience, I have learned how many women experience baby loss in some way (it’s 1 in 4!) and am perplexed how limited resources are for those suffering when the numbers remain so staggering.

Every day, we walk alongside parents and families living their worst nightmare navigating infertility, miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant loss.
