Goal
I am honored to be supporting Hope Story through the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. When I was 13, I got my first babysitting gig. I babysat for a family with 5 young children- my sibling was friends with one of the kids so we knew the family well. One of the children, Zak was born with Down Syndrome. He was 2 years old when I started babysitting him. Zak taught me so many things about what it means to care for others. He gave me the opportunity to think of more than just myself as a teenager. His mom also allowed me to go to his medical and physical therapy appointments. I learned so much about Zak and his health as well as about Zak as a kid. I loved caring for him and his siblings. It wasn’t always easy juggling multiple small children including a child with special needs and there was also a baby younger than him!
Hope Story provides great resources for families and others impacted by Down Syndrome. It really takes a village to care for our children- especially those who need us the most.
Your donation helps Hope Story provide resources, support, and hope to families whose child has received a Down syndrome diagnosis.
