Our mission is to facilitate children getting Comfort Kits for Children® and learn mind-body skills to help them cope with traumatic events.
- We share and show playful mind-body practices so children can practice mind-body play!
- In 2025 we will partner with Chicago nonprofits who support children who have lost a loved one to gun violence. The emotional needs of these children are often in the background during the difficult aftermath of community violence.
- In 2025 we will support children who experienced disruptions in school because of hurricanes.
- In 2025 we will partner with healthcare providers in Chile, to connect children being treated for cancer to Comfort Kits and the "feel better skills" and videos.
- We continue to liaison with children's groups in Israel and Ukraine, so Comfort Kits can help support children impacted by war.
With your generous support, children receive a Comfort Kit that contains simple toys and items associated with mind-body comfort practices. These playful practices help them regulate difficult feelings, create comfort, and cope with challenges like pain and disrupted sleep. We provide translated instructions and video guidance for caregivers and children. Our newest addition to the kits is a package called "49words to reduce stress." It is an animated video, set of 5 colorful cards, and a color-changing mood ring that serves as simple biofeedback so children see the connection between thoughts, feelings, and body experiences!
Comfort Kits cost about $10 US dollars and the "49words to reduce stress" cards and mood ring cost about $5 USD. For less than $20 you can provide very valuable "treasures" for children in need of emotional support.
We greatly appreciate your donations to support this initiative and provide children with enduring coping skills! To date, they have allowed us to send nearly 2000 kits to children around the world, facing disasters, war, and community violence. We continue to liaison with groups in Ukraine and Israel. We are excited to become more involved in Chicago communities and Chile!
