My Story: Running for Hope Story at the Disney 10K

Hi friends and family,

I’m excited to share with you that I’m running in the Disney 10K this year to raise money for Hope Story, an incredible organization that provides resources, support, and hope to families whose child has received a Down syndrome diagnosis. This race means more to me than just finishing a 10K; it represents a journey of inspiration, perseverance, and hope.

A few weeks ago, right before I ran my very first marathon at Disney, I had the chance to meet someone who would leave a lasting impact on me: Chris Nikic. Chris is a true inspiration—he was the first person with Down syndrome to complete an Ironman triathlon. When I met him, I was blown away by his resilience, humility, and the powerful message he shared. He told me, “The alternative to succeeding is giving up, and the alternative is not acceptable.” Those words stuck with me.

Chris faces countless challenges every single day, but he doesn’t let them define him. Instead, he chooses to become 1% better every day—a philosophy I’ve started to adopt in my own life. Whether it’s running, pushing myself past my limits, or taking on new challenges, Chris’s message reminds me that with the right mindset, anything is possible.

That’s why I’m so proud to be running with Team Hope Story. Their mission to create opportunities for people with Down syndrome aligns with the spirit of perseverance and growth that Chris embodies. Every dollar I raise will go directly to supporting individuals and families in the Down syndrome community, helping them access the tools and resources they need to thrive.
