2025 Live Like Roo Foundation Marathon Team

I'm fundraising $1,500 with a stretch goal of $2,100 for The Live Like Roo Foundation, an incredible organization that deeply resonates with me as a pet owner. My beloved dog, Tonka, is currently healthy, but I've seen firsthand the heartbreaking reality many pet parents face when their furry companions are diagnosed with cancer and they can't afford treatment. Live Like Roo steps in to cover these costs, ensuring these dogs can live longer, more comfortable lives.

Running marathons holds a special significance for me beyond the physical challenge. The intense training, the muscle soreness, and the exhaustion are powerful reminders of my own childhood illness, which often made simple acts like walking or climbing stairs nearly impossible. I'm incredibly fortunate that with treatment and therapy, I was able to recover to a point where running marathons became possible. This experience taught me that good health can be fleeting and taken away at any moment, but also that with the right care and recovery, a better quality of life is possible. Just as I found strength and healing, I want to help provide that same opportunity for dogs facing cancer diagnoses.

About Live Like Roo Foundation:

The Live Like Roo Foundation started in 2015 when a shelter dog named "Sisqo" captured the heart of Sarah, our Executive Director. When he was rescued and renamed "Roosevelt" (Roo) and undergoing a medical exam, they found cancer. It was terminal. He was given a bucket list and lived like a king for 6 months. Many people followed his journey and Sarah was inspired to help others in his honor. Since 2016, we have granted over $2.3 million dollars for pets and rescue animals with a cancer diagnosis and sent 5500 cancer care packages. We hope that everyone, sick or not, lives every day like it is your last. Live Like Roo.
