2025 Live Like Roo Foundation Marathon Team

The Live Like Roo Foundation started in 2015 when a shelter dog named "Sisqo" captured the heart of Sarah, our Executive Director. When he was rescued and renamed "Roosevelt" (Roo) and undergoing a medical exam, they found cancer. It was terminal. He was given a bucket list and lived like a king for 6 months. Many people followed his journey and Sarah was inspired to help others in his honor. Since 2016, we have granted over $2.3 million dollars for pets and rescue animals with a cancer diagnosis and sent 5500 cancer care packages. We hope that everyone, sick or not, lives every day like it is your last. Live Like Roo.

Live Like Roo helped us with our sweet girl, Kona, through the end of her battle with cancer. In her lifetime, she battled 4 different types of cancers and remained a total warrior until the very end of her fight.  While we didn't flinch at the more than $30k that we spent saving the life of our best furry friend, we knew that there are so many families out there that couldn't do the same.  Nobody should ever have to make that decision about their best friend.  From the moment we found out to about Live Like Roo, we knew we would be dedicated to their mission and part of the Roo family for life.  They help families emotionally, financially and with bucket list items for pups fighting cancer.

While I have run the Chicago Marathon several times, this will be my first since 2016 and my first without my best training partner, Kona.  She has passed the torch to Jack, Farley and Garth!
