2025 Live Like Roo Foundation Marathon Team

The Live Like Roo Foundation started in 2015 when a shelter dog named "Sisqo" captured the heart of Sarah, our Executive Director. When he was rescued and renamed "Roosevelt" (Roo) and undergoing a medical exam, they found cancer. It was terminal. He was given a bucket list and lived like a king for 6 months. Many people followed his journey and Sarah was inspired to help others in his honor. Since 2016, we have granted over $2.3 million dollars for pets and rescue animals with a cancer diagnosis and sent 5500 cancer care packages. We hope that everyone, sick or not, lives every day like it is your last. Live Like Roo. 

I’m truly honored to be running this marathon for the Live Like Roo Foundation, because of the incredible support they gave me during Zombie’s battle with cancer—and even after he passed.

What makes Live Like Roo so special is that they don’t just support pets—they support the humans too. They understand the rides back and forth to treatments, the tears in parking lots and bathrooms at work, the constant anxiety and worry that come with loving a sick pet. And when the fight is over, their care doesn’t stop. They show up with resources, grief therapy, support groups, and a community that continues to hold you when your world feels empty.

Even though I haven’t trained as well as I wanted this year, and I didn’t get to fundraise properly while Zombie was sick, I’m running now with him in my heart. My hope is that this late push helps other families get the same love and support that meant everything to me.
