Goal

My name is Cayson Nixon. I am 15 years old and a 10th grader at Jefferson High School.

I live with cystic fibrosis (CF) and am currently on the UNOS liver transplant list. Right now, my status on the transplant list is temporarily on hold because I need to gain more weight. To help with this, I currently have an NG tube (feeding tube) in place. I have also gone through many procedures to clip varices in my esophagus, but I am happy to share that I am now completely clear of all varices!

I received an exercise grant from BreatheStrong CF in 2024 for a trampoline that I use daily to help clear my lungs of the sticky mucus that comes with having CF.

About BreatheStrong CF:

BreatheStrong CF is a nonprofit organization with a mission to advance the physical and mental wellness of people with cystic fibrosis through education, direct support, and empowering opportunities.

Among our initiatives, we provide direct support to people living with CF across the US through exercise grants that are designed to help them build and maintain a lifelong habit of physical activity. We provide funding for a wide range of fitness-related expenses, empowering recipients to move in ways that strengthen both body and lungs.

For CF families in Georgia experiencing financial hardship, our Critical Needs grant may be able to help ease the burden of groceries and fuel costs.
