You already know the value that art brings to our lives: finding inspiration through creativity, enriching celebrations, showing us a path through challenges, and sharing moments of joy with each other. Inspirational and caring teachers pass down artistic skills from one generation to the next.
The Eliot School has nurtured artistic talent and been a hub of creativity—one that I hope you’ve personally experienced—for more than 348 years. Commitment to arts education is what drew me here, but the people I meet are what keep me excited about the work that happens every day, thanks to your support.
Will you join me in making this year a turning point for the Eliot School’s legacy?
I know many of you are still getting to know me, but as my first year requesting your financial support for the Eliot School’s annual fundraising campaign, I’d like to really go big. That means I'm asking for $250,000 in donations by December 31st to kick off my first schoolhouse season!
Sounds like a lot, right? It is, but you and I both know that the Eliot School of Fine & Applied Arts is a one-of-a-kind place where arts education is accessible, innovative, and transformative.
This summer, I saw our youngest students absorbed in woodworking, sewing, and painting at the schoolhouse while our teens encouraged them as teaching assistants and expanded their own skills through teaching. Meanwhile, adults (many of whom traveled across the country) refinished wood, upcycled furniture, and discovered new artistic mediums. As I spoke with them, it was evident that these artistic opportunities are essential to their lives and to the fabric of our community.
On behalf of all our families who enjoy the inspiration and creativity found at the Eliot School, thank you for helping us continue to craft tomorrow’s artists by making your gift today.
With deepest gratitude,
Scott Evans
