Sage Mountain Botanical Sanctuary is a nonprofit organization with a mission of continuing the legacy of herbalist Rosemary Gladstar through Conservation, Education, and Healing.
Having faced back-to-back historic floods in 2023 and 2024, Sage Mountain has been surrounded by the support and encouragement of our greater community to rise up resilient and continue fulfilling our mission in service to our community and planet.
Despite the disruption of the flooding, we persevered in continuing the work that means the most to our human, animal, and plant communities. In the past year, thanks to your support:
- We provided over $30,000 worth of scholarships to our online educational programs
- We continuing hosting and expanding our successful Afterschool in Nature and Summer Camp in Nature programs for low-income at-risk middle school youth in Central Vermont
- We provided youth in this program critical winter gear, holiday support, and nutritional needs for those families who go without
- We continued our conservation advocacy, successfully campaigning for the passage of a wildlife protection bills at the State House
- We worked with local and state agencies to protect the wildlife, forests, wetland habitat, and rare plant species in our corridor
- We deepened relationships with local Abenaki leaders, other nonprofit organizations, and community agencies to support regional initiatives and contribute to collaborative successes
- We assisted our local municipality in securing a $400,000 grant for renewable energy
- We provided over 1,000 grief care kits to regional Hospice programs and supported major relief campaigns to flood victims in Central Vermont and the Appalachian region
As we continue our mission of conservation, education and healing, we invite your one-time or sustaining monthly contribution to ensure that Sage Mountain enters the new year in full recovery from this past summer's challenges to remain a critical advocate for plants, wildlife, and the healing our human and ecological communities - next year and into the next thirty years, carrying forth the legacy of Rosemary Gladstar.
In 2025, we will host educational retreats, continue providing meaningful online education, re-open the Mountain to private retreats and events, pursue our ongoing advocacy and conservation work, and continue to support the youth of our community through our Afterschool and Summer Camp programs.
We can only continue this work with your support!
