Goal
If you know me you know that I love all things Disney. You also know that I have a heart for causes that touch my life personally. In the past I have ran for breast cancer and for St. Jude's, and now I am running for Hope Story. Why? Because my life has been forever touched by angels rocking that extra chromosome! I am dedicating this race to Kiara (Kiki) Artman. She's the daughter of one of the brightest shining lights I know, Katie (Walters) Artman and her amazing hubby Joshua. Their faith and love are inspiring and Kiki is pure sunshine and joy! I met Katie when we were both counselors at Awana Scholarship Camp and her testamony and love for Jesus have always been an inspiration to me. It's been awe-inspiring to watch her journey as she and Josh have navigated dating, marriage, medical issues and parenthood. It's for them that I chose this charity to be the one that I ran for.
"Kiara's name means "God's graceous gift". Little did we know when she was born
how much of a gift whe would be not only to us, but the rest of the world.
She lights up any room, or crowded airport. Her laugh is infectious and our prayer
is that she knows, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that she is wonderfully made."
~ Katie Artman
Hope Story is there to provide resources, support, and hope to families who have received a Down syndrome diagnosis for their unborn child. In what could be a turbulant time they connect families with this new diagnosis to families who are already experiencing life with Down's Syndrome and offering them hope, love and experience. Imagine making sure that no family goes into the unknown without a friend by their side?
Thank you for any donation you can consider to help in this awesome work. You can make a one-time donation, monthly donation, or just for fun you could pretend it's an old fashioned jog-a-thon and pledge per mile. This will be my first post-covid race and I'm slow but I am hoping for 22.4 miles over the weekend! Thank you for partnering with me, and thanks to the Artman Family and Kiki for being with me in this endeavor!
