PROJECT: A Latrine Project for Menstruating Girls

GOAL: Raise $10,000 to build gender-safe latrines with access to water

Every dollar counts toward building safe, clean latrines for girls in Burkina Faso. Even the smallest contribution can make a big impact. 

Proper sanitation not only keeps girls in school, but it also keeps them healthy. Every year, 443 million school days are lost due to illnesses caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation, making women and girls vulnerable to disease. Our latrine project aims to reduce this number by providing clean, safe toilets and access to water.

Lower education outcomes for women in turn affects their economic opportunities, family size and family health. These water-related diseases, such as bilharziasis, diarrhea, malaria, and trachoma, are weakening the health of the population in alarming proportions.
