Goal
Hello everyone! My name is Elizabeth Schmidt, I have been a dancer at Stage Door Dance Production since 2013 and I am member of the Be More Performance Ensemble. I am so excited for this year's benefit show and the "Be More Battle". We have three awesome charitable organizations that we are supporting. I have a personal connection to one of them and have chosen to have all of my fundraising go to AJ and the Cool Kids(be sure you add them in a comment when donating).
I have known Aj since he was born. When AJ was 2 years old he was diagnosed with autism. Ms. Tonya. AJ's mom, researched all types of resources to help AJ, and through that she learned that the cost therapies and needs can get expensive especially as a child gets older. Ms. Tonya saw this as an opportunity to give back to the autism community and started AJ and the Cool Kids. Their goal is to be able to provide financial assistance to families with autistic children and help take some of the stress off of parents. AJ turned 7 in January and is thriving in school and thanks to all of the help he has gotten he is making awesome progress.
I want to thank everyone in advance for helping me support AJ and the Cool Kids along with Stage Door Dance Productions!
Stage Door Dance Productions is reinventing the dance education model right here in Raleigh, NC. Under the leadership of our Founder/ CEO, Chasta Hamilton, the studios are now in their 15th season, reaching hundreds of children each week.
These children will change the world, and it is an honor to guide them through a small piece of that process.
Our institution operates under the pillars of technique, performance, community, and character. In 2015,we made the decision to phase out the competitive dance program and transition to an Intensive Training Program, now our Be More Performance Ensemble, which is rooted in community performance and peer to peer philanthropy. This journey is documented in the book Trash The Trophies: How to Win Without Losing Your Soul.
The success and continued growth of the program is a testament to our mission to “Be More At Stage Door.”
This year, our Be More Performance Ensemble dancers will be fundraising to raise funds for THREE different organizations: AJ and the Cool Kids, Healing Transitions, and Myra’s Angels.
We will celebrate each of these organizations throughout the year and will formally recognize each at our 2024 Benefit Show, The Be More Battle, which will be held Saturday, April 27th, 2024 at Stewart Theatre at NC State University.
We believe in training amazing dancers, but, most importantly, we are on a mission to inspire the leaders of tomorrow by allowing them the opportunity to use their art and executive functioning skills to produce a show that impacts the incredible work happening in our community. Thank you for supporting us!
