Goal
The Board members of Live Thrive are raising funds to directly support Live Thrive and its educational initiatives. In addition to being a Board member, I've also been a long time beneficiary of Live Thrive, specifically as a regular patron of the CHaRM facility. I can attest to the real difference the facility makes in improving the health and sustainability of the community.
About Live Thrive:
Live Thrive is an Atlanta-based, 501c3, nonprofit organization working since 2010 to create a community that cares about a healthy and sustainable environment. We started as a blog sharing sustainable efforts of individuals, communities and local businesses large and small.
To fulfill our mission, Live Thrive organized the city of Atlanta’s first household hazardous waste collection in September 2010. Attendance was well over 500 – diverting more than 75,000 pounds of waste from our water system and landfills. Over the next four years, Live Thrive organized nine additional events. Through these events, we realized the need for a permanent drop-off facility for these hard-to-recycle materials, and the Center for Hard to Recycel Materials (CHaRM) was created.
It would not be possible to run the CHaRM facility without the support of volunteers and donations. Make your community a healthier place.
About CHaRM:
The CHaRM facility is a premier program of the nonprofit, Live Thrive. It is a permanent drop-off facility that aims to improve our environmental health by encouraging reuse and diverting thousands of pounds of household hazardous waste and other hard-to-recycle items from Metro-Atlanta landfills and water systems. CHaRM also accepts sorted single-stream items for those who do not have access. All operations expenses for CHaRM are paid from grants, sponsorships, donations, and recycling fees.
In 2022 alone, CHaRM had more than 75,000 visitors and recycled 121 tons of Styrofoam, 258 tons of chemicals, 245 tons of glass, 3,598 mattresses and much more, for a total of 2,800 tons of recycled materials during the year.
