Goal
For the past several years, students and faculty at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) have been working with us to design the Same Polytechnic College, a new vocational training center in the northern highlands of Tanzania. Later this summer, a team of eleven students and two faculty from Cal Poly will join us in Tanzania to assist with the construction of the first site office for the project. They are flying half-way around the world to volunteer their time, skills and sweat for this building that will be used by our staff and future volunteers as the full construction of the campus begins to ramp up over the coming year. Until now, we’ve had to transport people, tools and materials back and forth each day between the town and the 102 acre site, but once this is built we will be able to devote more time working on site and less time in transit, helping us to reach our final goal of expanding educational opportunities in rural East Africa faster!Students from the 2017 Cal Poly - Tanzania Summer Build trip finish erecting a sign on site
As with every Cal Poly class we have had the pleasure of collaborating with, the work these students have done in preparation for this trip has been exceptional and we are very excited to have them join us in Tanzania! The team is self-funding their travel and accommodations and now we need your help to raise $5,000 for the construction costs.
Please help us by making a donation of $50, $100 or any amount you can afford to support these students and help get the Same Polytechnic College one step closer to opening.
Every little bit helps and we simply can’t do it without you. If you want to know more, check out our video on the Same Polytechnic College below or visit our website. Together we can make a real and lasting impact in rural East Africa. From all of us at Mbesese, ASANTE SANA!
