Goal
"One of the most innovative chamber choirs I've heard.." - Gregory Isaacs, TheaterJones
"These were capable and attentive singers, very much committed to Brukhman and his vision. This will be a group to watch.” - Scott Cantrell, Dallas Morning News
We are growing quickly. In our first year, Verdigris Ensemble reached an audience of over 2,500 people and was featured in 14 media features including the Dallas Morning News, KERA, VoyageDallas Magazine, TheaterJones, and others. We had a total of 9 concerts, 6 outreach initiatives, 2 crowdfunding campaigns, and ended the season financially sound.
Season 2 will be a year of bold steps and ambitious projects as we continue expanding Verdigris and engaging our community through music, collaboration, media, and outreach. This year, we are increasing to a four concert season which features collaborations with the Irving Chorale, Avant Chamber Ballet, Temple Emanuel, and visual artist, Stephen Zhang. We are expanding our venues to include spaces such as Arts Mission Oak Cliff and Moody Performance Hall. In order to retain and attract the best musicians in the DFW metroplex, we plan to increase singer pay rates by 11%. Finally, we launch our first podcast series in September 2018.
This season’s concerts feature stories of human connection through candid correspondence and portraiture. We’ll see this from the perspectives of a musical genius, a homeless girl, a mother and daughter, and the people of Dallas.
We are excited to launch our first podcast season in September, featuring 11 episodes that will share stories and news from the current classical music world. We will continue our weekly newsletters updating our followers on our progress and promoting other arts organizations in DFW. We will continue our monthly Arts Happy Hours to connect arts organizations with each other and influential guests. We will also offer outreach initiatives in schools to invest in the next generation of artists and audience members.
We need your help to continue our growth in DFW. We are the only choral organization in DFW that is committed to collaboration, education, and innovation. By donating to the Verdigris Ensemble, you are supporting forward-thinking choral music and enriching the vibrant and diverse artistic culture of our city. Help spread the word by bringing a friend to a concert, sharing our mission with potential donors, and introducing us to potential corporate sponsors.
I am encouraged by the expansion of Verdigris this upcoming year. I feel passionate about fostering an appreciation of classical music through media while maintaining the highest level of music-making in performance. I am enthusiastic about our 2018-19 season and look forward to sharing it with you. Thank you for your support.
