Equal Plates Project, based in Asheville, NC, purchases from small farms at fair prices, transforms their quality ingredients into nourishing meals, and partners with community organizations to share thousands of meals each week with neighbors facing complex barriers to food access. Since 2020, we have shared 400,000 meals with our community.
Our current direct aid meals are being distributed in partnership with:
Children & families: UMOJA, Resources for Resilience, Mountain Child Advocacy Center, Buncombe Partnership for Children, UnitedWay of WNC, Poder Emma, Medicaid clients via the Healthy Opportunities Pilot, and group homes of families displaced from Hurricane Helene
Shelters for unhoused families & individuals: Homeward Bound, Safe Shelter, Salvation Army
Low-income senior residences: Arrowhead, Asheville Terrace, Altamont, East End Valley
Domestic violence shelters: HelpMate

Your contribution makes a direct impact:
$50: Buys local sweet potatoes for 250 meals
$100: Fuels our meal delivery vehicle for 1 month
$250: Covers local, pasture-raised chicken for 1 week of meals
$500: Supports winter crop purchases from a local farmer
$1,000: Covers 1 week of donated meals to low-income children, seniors and unhoused families
