As of 2026, we’ve created access to more than 10,000 paid internship opportunities across 35 sectors. Thousands have launched careers, built networks, and stepped into industries that once excluded them. 

But these achievements only tell part of the story; this past year has been one of both challenge, and progress here at the Foundation, and we were thrust into the spotlight as the “Culture War” narrative reached fever pitch. 

Our fundamental belief remains; that talent is everywhere but opportunity is not. 

Nearly one million young people aged 16–24 in the UK are currently not in education, employment or training (NEET), the highest level seen in over a decade. Recent analysis found that Afro-Caribbean young people experience the highest NEET rate of any major ethnic group at 15.2%, driven in part by significantly higher rates of unemployment.

Black applicants were 33% less likely to receive an entry-level professional job offer than equally qualified White applicants, even after accounting for education, experience and the roles for which they applied.

Access to professional networks, work experience and career guidance is still too often determined by factors beyond an individual's control.

And so our mission continues; to create pathways to opportunity, empower talent to thrive, and transform how the world of work recognises potential.

Our programmes are lawful, evidence-based positive action measures under Section 158 of the Equality Act 2010, designed to address clear and persistent underrepresentation. We are confident in the legal basis of our approach.
