Goal
Last month Calypso was fed some (too many) treats by someone that was not authorized to give him treats. They were not educated on the dangers of feeding a horse you don't know the medical history of, and so sadly, Calypso is now metabolic.
Equine Metabolic Syndrome is an endocrine disorder that mainly affects in three ways; excessive fat deposition, dysregulation of insulin, and laminitis.
It is important not to feed horses that you don't know, because it can be catastrophic to their health. Calypso is in critical condition now and we have to keep him in his stall, and he can't come out and graze because of the sugars in the grass.
This now puts Calypso at risk for laminitis which is one of the most catastrophic and life-threatening diseases a horse can have.
His vet bills have just started, and will continue to make sure he stays healthy and safe.
Please help us help him by donating to Calypso's Care.
Thank you!
